What is Invisalign? Let's explain it!
Aligners (transparent braces) are on the rise. The braces are popular because you can hardly see them, and because you slide them tightly over your teeth they are super comfortable to wear. Previously they were mainly used for minor dental improvements, today with aligners we can provide almost everyone with beautiful, healthy and straight teeth. Aligners, Invisalign, transparent braces, what’s the difference? Invisalign is a brand name for aligners. With aligners from Invisalign, you’re going for a high-quality product. We’ll tell you more about it in this blog.
How does it work?
Unsure if Invisalign matches your preferences or do you already have some questions? Give us a call or fill out the form next to this blog. Here we will tell you exactly how we work.
You are welcome at our practice in Eindhoven for a free consultation. We will discuss your wishes and tell you immediately what is and what is not possible. With Invisalign we can achieve many results, but your health comes first. So when we think that a different treatment suits your wishes and/or teeth better, we are always honest about it.
After the exploratory consultation a 3D-scan will follow. We make a quick and accurate scan of your teeth with a 3D-scanner. Within no time you see on the screen a 3D scan of your teeth. The program can even very quickly show you what your teeth look like after treatment. But be careful because we are strict! As we said before; your health comes first. It is nice that the program shows how it can be but we will also research if this is possible for your teeth. We look at the roots of your teeth, the space behind your molars and your gums. Our goal: straight and healthy teeth.
After the intake we make a budget so you know where you stand. These budgets are all-inclusive. So you don’t have to worry about costs afterwards. Based on the 3D scan and the assessment of your teeth, our trained practitioners will put together an Invisalign treatment plan for you.
When you feel good about our medical advice and agree to the cost, your braces will be placed within six weeks. So you don’t have to wait long before you can get started.
Every 8 weeks you come to the practice for a check-up. Your progress is checked, we check how the aligner sits around your teeth and we look at the condition of your gums, roots and bone.
And just so you know, you don’t fool us! We can tell exactly when you haven’t worn your Invisalign enough. If you don’t wear your aligners enough hours a day (at least 22 hours a day), the process will take longer, which is a shame. So be meticulous about wearing your Invisalign.
You happy, we happy!
After several months, you’ll be done with your treatment plan and leave our practice with a radiant smile after your final checkup. You happy, we happy! Of course, your teeth will still tend to move after treatment. To keep all your teeth securely in place, you’ll wear Invisalign retention braces every night from then on. Of course, we’ll tell you more about this during the orientation interview.
How long does Invisalign treatment last?
The number of months you need to wear Invisalign to straighten your teeth depends entirely on the current situation of your teeth. For small tooth defects, this is obviously much shorter than for complex defects. After three months you will already feel a difference and usually after six months you will already see results. After the 3D scan we can already give you a good estimate of the duration of your personal treatment plan.
Possibilities Invisalign
As we mentioned before: the health of your teeth is our number one priority. We always give you honest advice that fits your needs and dental situation. Below is a list of corrections that are treatable in almost all cases:
- teeth too close together
- overbite
- underbite
- crossbite
- diastema (extra distance between teeth, also called a gap)
- open bite (when your upper and lower teeth do not touch when your mouth is closed)
Please also reach us for other corrections. We’ll look at Invisalign options with you.
