Does an aligner from Invisalign hurt?

Pressure on the teeth

At Felix & Bellus, we do everything we can to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. Treatment with aligners from Invisalign should not hurt. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that you may experience some tooth sensitivity. The braces continuously exert an even pressure on your teeth to move them into the correct position. Because of this, some people experience a somewhat uncomfortable pressing sensation the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. This is not a bad thing at all, it just means that your teeth are transforming into a dazzling smile! Are you experiencing no pain and discomfort at all? That doesn’t mean the aligners aren’t working. You are then just one of the lucky ones in whom the Invisalign treatment is painless.

Loose teeth

We sometimes hear from people that their teeth feel looser when they take their aligners off. This is only natural. Your teeth are slowly pushed into a different position and your gums take a while to adjust to it. Your gums lag a little behind the movement of your teeth, so to speak, so the gums don’t fit tightly around your teeth everywhere. This recovers itself over time. Give your gums a little time and they will naturally form around the teeth again.
