At Felix & Bellus, we take you into the world of aligners. Aligner is the name for transparent braces. We often use the word Invisalign because this is a well-known brand name that we also use in our practice. But when we talk about aligners, we are talking about the transparent braces that you slide over your teeth. If you would like to know more about this, you have come to the right place.
The aligner specialist in the heart of Eindhoven
When you search for aligners online you will find a lot of suppliers. Many of these providers are online providers. So you do not get in touch with them personally. One will send you a kit with which you make a print of your teeth yourself, the other will send you to the practice only once for a 3D-scan. Then, based on just this information, aligners are printed and sent to you. There is no medical practitioner involved to assess whether this treatment is appropriate for your teeth. Be careful with this!
We think personal contact is very important, after all, we are talking about the health of your teeth. In addition to making a 3D-scan, we also look closely at the position and status of your teeth with our own eyes. Would you like only your front teeth a little straighter? Of course this is possible, but keep in mind that space must be made for this. So there is a chance that your molars will have to make room for your front teeth. This can be achieved by applying aligners. Still, it is of absolute importance that it is properly assessed that it is not to the detriment of your teeth. Why this is so important we tell you in the ‘do-it-yourself braces’ blog.
What should you pay attention to when wearing an aligner?
So an aligner is a transparent cover that you slide over your teeth. Of course, the brace is quite tight around your teeth. It can be a bit uncomfortable the first few days. Otherwise, the brace wears super comfortable. For example, you won’t be bothered by the metal brace rubbing against your cheek. The aligner is so smooth that it won’t bother you.
With aligners, you can continue to eat anything as long as you take the braces off first. You can drink while wearing the aligner. You just have to be a little careful with drinks that contain a lot of dyes. It is very important that you wear the transparent brace at least 22 hours a day. You can use the remaining time to remove your brace while eating or brushing your teeth.
You remove an aligner very easily by gently pushing the brace down with a fingertip on the inside of the back of your molar. Do this simultaneously on two sides or first one side and then push down the other side. Because you don’t eat while wearing the aligner, the bracket stays nice and clean and you only need to rinse it with water.
