Are you orienting for braces? There are several types of braces available in the Netherlands. One of them is the transparent bracket from Invisalign. Because we are superfan of transparent braces, we have specialized in this. So we only work with transparent braces. Want to know more? Read on quickly.
What exactly is a transparent bracket?
In the Netherlands the metal bracket is still the most common bracket. This is because not all orthodontists offer clear braces. Yet we also see more and more aligners (transparent braces) passing by. A positive development if you ask us and we are happy to explain it to you.
With a metal brace, they place the brace and then you need regular checkups with the orthodontist. During the checkups, they make some adjustments to your braces to straighten your teeth little by little.
With transparent braces from Invisalign, this is different. We determine in advance exactly what is needed to get your teeth back in the right position. We take an x-ray and a scan of your teeth. One of our specialists also looks at your oral health and what effect the treatment will have on your teeth. With Invisalign’s precise technique, we can see very clearly in advance how we need to move your teeth until they are straight again. Based on this the different transparent braces are made. Every week you will use a new brace after which your teeth will move little by little and very precisely until you have nice straight teeth again.
The big advantage of an aligner, of course, is that it is almost invisible. It is a hard transparent cover that you slide tightly over your teeth. In addition, it is a lot more comfortable than a metal brace. A metal brace can hurt your cheeks and lips while an aligner can only be briefly sensitive when you put new braces back in. This is because your teeth are then set in motion again and this can be sensitive. Generally, this is not considered as painful.
What does a clear brace cost and is it covered?
Because an aligner is a somewhat lesser known type of brace compared to a metal brace, people often wonder if it is reimbursed. Then we have good news for you, transparent braces are also reimbursed by health insurance. This is most interesting for people under the age of 18. Often a supplementary insurance is required for this and there are many criteria to take into account. We explain this further under the heading “prices” on our website.
The advantage of a transparent brace is that you only need to come for a check-up once every eight weeks. This allows us to offer rates that are the same or even lower than lock braces. We offer see-through braces but also find it important to be transparent about the costs ;).
The cost of a full intake is €280,-. This price includes 3D scan, x-rays, light photos and digital treatment plan. At the intake consultation you pay only €80,- of that. The price of the treatment itself starts at €2.000,-. The price depends on the number of aligners and the time needed to achieve your desired end result.
